About Us — Cathy Meehan
Community first. Fun always.
Boot n Scoot Bush Dancing was established by Cathy Meehan and her brother, Michael
Flynn, together with their families, with a simple goal: to create joyful, community-filled
events that bring people together.
The idea was inspired by their late mother, Maureen Flynn, who had a deep love of music,
singing, dancing and community. Maureen believed that joy was something to be shared,
and that bringing people together was one of life’s greatest gifts.
Growing up on a dairy farm, the Flynn families spent countless nights at country halls
throughout the Beaudesert and Jimboomba regions, attending and organising bush dances
that formed the heart of local communities. Those early experiences shaped a lifelong
appreciation for connection, inclusion and shared celebration.
Today, Boot n Scoot continues that tradition — creating modern bush dances that honour the
past while welcoming everyone, regardless of age or experience.
Quote from Cathy:
“For me, Boot n Scoot is so much more than dancing. It’s about connection, laughter, and seeing families and friends come together in a way that feels truly Australian.”
